Why we show you this
We hold no money and no keys, but we do control the names. That means we could point one of them at ourselves and take somebody's payment, and every wallet in the world would accept it. So instead of asking you to trust that we will not, we write down every change we make and publish copies where we cannot reach them.
Then why should I believe this page?
You should not, on its own. This page is served by us, about us, which is exactly the position a page like this is usually in and usually pretends not to be. That is why every number has a link next to it. The links are the point. The page is convenience.
The one that matters most is the copies published to nostr relays we do not run, every six hours. If we ever rewrote our own history, those copies would disagree with us, and we cannot reach them to change them. Verifying the chain against a copy you fetched yourself is the only check here that does not go through us at all.
What breaks if you disappear
Your name stops working, because the name is on our domain. That is why the honest answer is to put your name on a domain you own instead, and we wrote the tool for doing that and put it in the menu.
A payment card you already saved keeps working regardless, because the code on it carries the payment record itself rather than a link back here.
